A North Star Game Our Family Discovered (and loves): Wits & Wagers

This past Christmas I was looking for a game the whole family could enjoy (youngest was 8 years old). It had to be something that required a little knowledge/skill, yet easy enough for a kid to play.

After a couple hours of research and price comparisons at Walmart and eBay, I narrowed down my choices to "Loaded Questions" and "Wits and Wagers." Loaded Questions sounded like a fun game but was more targeted on discovering people you wanted to get to know (better) and was more similar to the other open ended questions type games we already had. So, it came down to a trivia type game mixed with a wagering aspect (it has a casino feel to it since it has poker chips).

This is a North Star Game, the makers of "Say Anything" and "Cluzzle" and their games are designed so that it's quick to learn, it keeps all players constantly involved, and it's short enough to fit in your busy schedule.

I must say I am very pleased (and so are the kids) with the results we got out of this game. There have been lots of laughs (with "ridiculous" answers) and a few "double header" game nights (it takes about 20 minutes or so to play so there's no problem squeezing another game in before calling it a night).

I've written a more detailed review on Wits and Wagers over at Squidoo.

Board games are a very cost effective way we have fun while exposing the kids to a social atmosphere.
